Since the 16th century, Mexico has contributed to world gastronomy with a large number of products that have become part of China's culinary tradition, such as corn, beans, avocado, vanilla, cacao and tomatoes, amongmany others.
Mexico is, according to the Global Trade Atlas 2009, China's most important supplier of avocados; second-biggest exporter of beer; fourth-largest exporter of shrimp, honey, grapes and raisins; and fifth-largest exporter of soup mixes.
Mexican farmers and companies are committed to compliance with certifications that guarantee quality of their produce.
Its best-known drink is a combination of two worlds: Agave, a raw material native to Mexico, and distillation, a European process that gave birth to the mezcal wine of tequila which has given Mexico a privileged place in the world.
Currently, tequila is one of Mexico's main exports. According to the Tequila Regulatory Council, this industry has sustained annual growth of 9 percent in the past 12 years.
Mexico produces 140 million liters of tequila every year and it is exported to more than 90 countries and regions in the world.
Tequila can only be made in Mexico and the country's tequila industry involves more than 130 companies producing more than 1,000 certified brands with much more room for growth.
