Shake and bake at DIY cooking classes
LEARNING to cook and bake can be a great deal of fun, especially for children. Kids are naturally curious and love to touch and try new things, making cooking an interesting experience for them - provided they are supervised properly.
In Shanghai, there are many places that give child friendly cooking classes. Such places prepare everything for you and your kids in advance and teach children step by step how to make everything from pizzas to cookies and cakes. The best part is customers get to take home everything they make.
Here are a few options for those who want to get out there and cook under the guidance of professionals.
Papa John's
The pizza chain has a special course called "Little Papa" for children and their parents to make original crust pizzas.
The class usually begins in the afternoon, when most customers have already finished their lunch and left. Waiters will prepare all the ingredients and aprons are provided.
A Papa John's chef will take customers through the cooking process. Since the crusts have already been prepared, children will get to add the sauce, cheese and other toppings.
Drinks are served and kids can enjoy their pizza fresh out of the oven. Participants will also receive a small gift and a "Little Papa" certificate.
The class costs 68 yuan (US$11) per person and reservations are required. More information is available at all Papa John's restaurants.
