SPDB building digital future with Swiss firm
The Shanghai Pudong Development Bank unveiled a tech alliance lab yesterday with Swiss banking system provider Temenos Group AG, in a bid to further transform its business by utilizing the latest financial technologies.
Pan Weidong, vice president of the Shanghai-based joint-stock commercial bank, said that the move is important in boosting its transformation toward a digital bank by working with key partners.
In September, SPDB signed agreements with major technology companies, including Microsoft, IBM and Pactera, a leading international digital consulting and technology services firm, and set up a community to promote technological cooperation.
With its investment in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing, the lender said that it could now make a more precise analysis of its customers, offer real-time financial services and has improved its risk-management capability.
SPDB says that a brand new interactive system for voice-based smart customer service will go live soon and it will pour more money to the research and development of information technology next year.
Banks are embracing more frontier technologies. To help such transitions, SPDB, in association with Temenos and Pactera, hosted an innovation contest, which received 134 solutions from 102 startups at home and abroad, it said.
