YCIS Global Child Day a hit for young and old

MAY 15 was a day to remember with Yew Chung International School of Shanghai hosting Global Child Day for the fourth year. Multi-cultural, fun-filled, global awareness are just a few phrases that help describe this wonderful event.

Global Child Day is a day that truly embodies the foundations upon which YCIS Shanghai stands. It is a day that fosters an international knowledge and appreciation of both Eastern and Western cultures through food, family and fun. More than 1,000 children and families attended the special event held at the YCIS Regency Park campus.

Remarkable performances by students kicked off the festivities for the evening. This year, a total of 25 countries and regions were represented by students, family and YCIS Shanghai staff members.

Games and information booths were set up with decor that personified the countries themselves. Live music from the Brazilian tent set the tone for an exhilaratingly fun-filled environment that catered to both adults and children.

An abundance of food from each country gave everyone a taste of its origins and provided diversity. Global Child Day is just one representation of what is promoted at YCIS Shanghai on a daily basis; children being able to show pride in their own culture while learning to respect and embrace others.
