A student’s day starts and ends on the bus
Activities that students do on a typical day of school are fun and tiring. The first thing students do is get on the bus to go to school. When the students get off the bus in front of the school, they go to the auditorium. Then students go to their morning classes and have snack time. After morning classes, they go to the cafeteria to have lunch. Having finished lunch, they can go to play at recess. Following recess, pupils attend their afternoon classes. Finally, learners board their buses to go home. This usual day at school that begins and ends is entertaining but exhausting.
Boarding the bus, students quickly take their assigned seats and fasten their seat belts. My sister and I are quiet on the bus. The bus is pretty quiet. I read books on the bus to keep me entertained. Behind our seats are two girls, both younger than my sister and I. The older one cries very often, nearly every day. I wish she was on a different bus because her crying is very annoying. The bus teacher tells us when we get near school so we can put our books away. To get off the bus, we have to wait in a long line.
Entering the auditorium is like entering a library. Students sit according to their classes. The pupils take out their books to read.
Very soon, Mr Tan tells us to put our books away and makes important speeches. Sometimes there are presentations or dances. If we have homework, we must give it to our form teachers. Finally, it’s time for morning classes. Students follow their subject teachers to their classrooms.
Students quickly unpack their bags, go to the room for their lesson and sit down. And wait for class to begin.
When class begins, teachers may let the students play an educational game related to what they are learning. Teachers soon tell the students it’s time to have snacks. My friend Petrina and I trade snacks. I usually bring Cheetos or biscuits. After snack time, we continue our lesson. Later we get ready for lunch.
Lunch time is when teachers and students eat a delicious and nutritious lunch together. Teachers and students get to choose what they want to eat. Everybody talks to their friends while they enjoy their gourmet lunch. Some children drink soup while others don’t. Soon a teacher says lunch time is over and tells the students where they have recess.
Playtime is when students have time to meet their friends. I normally play Closed-eye Catch with the other girls. The students have so much fun that time goes by quickly. Soon it’s time to go to their afternoon classes. Students get their belongings, sit down according to their classes and wait for their subject teachers to take them to their classes.
The day has been very long when afternoon classes begin. Students sometimes rush to finish projects while others start projects or continue with their projects. In afternoon classes we learn new things, take tests or play games. Some pupils enjoy the lessons while others do not. Teachers tell the pupils to pack when the bell is about to ring. Students line up to go to their buses or car to go home.
Tired from our studies, students either get on the bus or go to their car to go home. When students are seated in their assigned seats, students do many things. Some trade snacks, eat snacks or sleep. Others read or look out the window. Many kids get off the bus at each stop. By the time the bus reaches my stop, there is one kid remaining on the bus.
The day that begins and ends on the bus was entertaining and exhausting. And so it begins again the next day.
