Animator dream burns bright
I am currently a Year 13 IB student at YCIS’s Century Park campus. After I graduate, I plan on studying computer animation in the UK. This would allow me to eventually work as an animator, and to be employed by companies like Disney, Dreamworks or Pixar. In order to prepare for my future studies, my teachers and the staff at my school have helped me immensely.
I’ve been attending YCIS since 2004, and I have truly benefitted from the art program at our school. From a very young age, I was encouraged by my teachers to try new things in the art classroom, and to experiment with different materials and techniques, as well as to participate in various after-school programs such as the current Figure Drawing program. All of this has cultivated my love for the visual arts, and has definitely been one of the leading forces in developing my love for animation.
In preparation for my future studies, my teachers have been incredibly helpful. My art teacher, Ms Ianovskaia, has given me expert advice on my portfolio for animation and explained how I can improve, and has co-led the Figure Drawing program that will greatly aid in my study at university. Computer animation is an unconventional course to study, and therefore requires very specific abilities, such as strong communication skills, and a strong technical drawing ability. I have found that my classmates and I have developed both of these skills at YCIS, especially through the English and Art departments.
I feel that I have undergone a lot of personal and academic growth at YCIS, mainly while under the guidance of my teachers, who have been very supportive as I pursue my future dream career.
