Class of 2012: Never can say Goodbye!
THE bittersweet feeling of graduating is overwhelming, even though I knew that this day would come: when we'd have to say goodbye to each other - to our best friends and our passionate teachers at Shanghai Singapore International School (SSIS). But I was not prepared to bid my farewells just yet.
As we draw closer to the end of the countdown to graduation, I find myself lost in reverie as I reminisce about the nerve-racking days. It is amazing how we managed to go through each day with such vigor and enthusiasm (on most days). The many memories we shared together: from our CAS trip to Hanoi, Vietnam to the ToK trip to the Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe (where some of us had Peking Opera masks painted on our faces), can never be forgotten. Despite our differences, the bonds we formed with each other can never be broken.
Time flew by too fast and sometimes I just wish that the final days of our high school career would slow down but in the end, we all have to move on to a bigger part of our life - college or national service.
I am no doubt excited to head off to UC San Diego to pursue my interest in environmental and Earth sciences but without all the motivation and dedicated support from family, friends, teachers and counselors, I never could have made it this far.
Even though I'll be busy writing all the thank you notes to my parents, friends and teachers, this is not goodbye. Perhaps, 10 years down the road, we will reunite again as we recall the jovial days at SSIS.
So, to the Class of 2012: keep in touch and see you next time!
