Cooking up some great ideas

We can imagine that in most school communities and in all children’s eyes mothers, for many reasons, are very important. Here at Fortune Kindergarten, every mother is somewhat of a superhero. Anita Wang Da Silva gave us a quick snapshot into the world of modern motherhood.

Anita joined the community three years ago when her daughter, Sophia, transferred to Fortune Kindergarten Hongqiao campus. Her son Dylan was not yet born. As little Sophia was settling into Pre K and Anita was getting to know the school community, she soon found an opportunity to get involved, by joining a group of volunteer mothers who were preparing a charity event for that year’s Christmas Bazaar.

As the mothers brainstormed ideas for charity, they decided to collect their children’s favorite recipes and share these with all Fortune moms in the cookbook. “Recipes from Moms to Moms,” Fortune’s own international cookbook, was the result of a schoolwide effort, with many of the mothers being involved in collecting, translating and organizing the recipes. But it was Anita’s editorial effort that brought the first edition together, and a second one a year later.

All proceeds from book sales went to the charity for sick children in Heart to Heart program.

Having long dreamed of starting her own inspirational children’s shop, Anita launched Chalkboard, her own children’s concept shop on Huaihai Road.
