Drama students take to the stage at Rego

THE drama department is flourishing this year at Shanghai Rego International School. After an extremely successful production of "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari" during the summer term at the secondary school, Rego was contacted by the playwright Gary Earl Ross's son who congratulated the students on such a magnificent performance; the school is organizing a video conference with the expert.

He commented on how thrilled he was to see a secondary school tackle such a complex script and the cast certainly rose to the challenge.

GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) Drama students recently had the opportunity to perform an energetic rendition of "Cinderella" to the primary school. They visited the World Expo 2010's "Pro Light and Sound" exhibition and were introduced to the latest lighting technology and were even able to test the latest microphones in the industry.

This experience will certainly prepare them for the most recent addition to the Rego campus - a top of the range 750-seat theater.

Drama students will soon be trained in operating the latest "Intelligent Lighting Systems," professional sound technology and DJ equipment. Primary students are now in rehearsals for the first production to take place in the new theater - Dinosaurs And All That Rubbish. The theater will be formally opened on December 13. Break a leg Rego!
