Incredible city creates plenty of learning opportunities

SHANGHAI is an amazing place. Its economical, social, and technological development makes it an exciting place to live. But have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a high school student in Shanghai?

High school in Shanghai is a remarkable experience; the opportunities you encounter are abundant and genuine. My high school, Yew Chung International School, is a typical high school that has some unique benefits. First, you have the incredible chance to make friends with diverse people from around the world. Shanghai is an international hub where people from different countries reside as expats temporarily. This means numerous farewells, but it does not mean the end of a friendship. Second, by being exposed to such diverse cultures you become a more open-minded person. I believe that through understanding my classmates’ beliefs and traditions, I have become a more thoughtful person with a better understanding of the world.

At YCIS, the most valuable thing I have learned this year is to always leap at an opportunity. This is because from every new, diverse experience I participate in, I always learn a new skill and make new friends. I enjoy these opportunities, as they only ask for an ounce of your time, while returning bountiful benefits. Through these experiences I am able to appreciate the minute details of life.

YCIS has prepared me for a fantastic future ahead. It has educated me to be open-minded and thoughtful, to leap at every opportunity, and to appreciate what life has to offer. YCIS is not just a great school; it is a place that teaches every student the lessons of life.
