Model pupils walk around the city
THIS month, Grade 2 visited the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center near People's Square to learn about communities in their Theme classes.
The museum covers Shanghai's history and projected future and contains an enormous city model that visitors can walk around and explore.
The children enjoyed identifying familiar places with this unique model and we explored different buildings, the river and bridges, and found the school, Century Park, Lujiazui and Xujiahui. The whistle-stop tour had us sailing through the streets in the 360-degree movie room. If only we could have returned to school so quickly!
The visit helped students get a different perspective on the city's size, geography, architecture and to gain more insights into the community in which we live.
