South Africa trip cherished chance to go on safari

“Wildlife” was always a passionate topic for me as I always considered that we humans are a part of nature and we need to understand the unspoken mysteries and language of nature and animals. To take forward my passion, I undertook a mesmerizing journey to Johannesburg in South Africa, where lies a beautiful forest named Kruger National Park, with my family and friends on Chinese New Year 2013 for four days.

The journey itself made me excited as I am very fond of wildlife and taking pictures of animals. We rented a car to drive throughout the forest, which gave me the immense pleasure of being close to the unknown world of nature and animals. I was quite lucky to spot the Big 5 — lion, leopard, hippo, elephant and wild buffalo. A sense of shiver ran throughout my body when I saw the big cat with wild and cunning eyes. But still we were enjoying the excitement of taking pictures and the moment of spotting them. The pictures I took were a treasure for me. In the evening, we went to our allotted huts and freshened up.

During the journey on safari, the guide informed us about the packs of lions staying near the huts. At first I was a bit scared, but after seeing the giant animals, my feelings for wildlife increased. Animals freely roam around the forest for defense or hunting. We were strictly prohibited from coming out of the car as it might endanger our lives. People who were found doing it were fined by park authorities.

The days were passing quickly like a sand from the hand but I wanted more experience with my binoculars and cameras to take these animals into my heart. I also managed to shoot some videos of elephants bathing, leopards sleeping in a tree and lions chasing deer. We use to wake up with loud sounds of monkeys jumping and hopping on our hut.

In today’s world, we are all so much connected to Facebook, whatsapp, etc., and totally disconnected with nature and wildlife. The peace and serenity I got in the lap of Mother Nature cannot be described. This trip to Africa was such an eye-opener for me, to explore the unexplored wildlife, that I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life.
