In the final held yesterday, US consuls, staff of US corporations in China and scholars judged a debate between eight finalists, including three foreign students, selected from about 100 contestants.
Before the final, contestants had to go through two rounds of competition - individual presentations and teamwork to demonstrate China's diplomacy.
In the first round, students were required to express their perspective of the future world.
In the semi-final round, contestants were split into five groups imitating five Chinese delegations to have interaction with delegations of five countries, who were also acted by students.
The five delegations representing China needed to demonstrate the common interest and concern existing in international exchange and forecast the tendency of bilateral relationship to the representatives of America, the European Union, Japan, India and Africa.
"We will see easier flow of ideas. We won't be all judgmental about what we don't actually know. Foreigners won't picture Chinese people wearing braids. We won't worship everything that is from America," said student Shi Shang.
Lu Xinyu, a philosophy student, imagined a future world where human beings live and develop in a harmonious relationship with nature, in which the dignity of natural is recognized and respected.
"We are all sharing an expectation toward a better future, we also share our responsibility toward our natural neighbors on the Earth, toward their dignity," he says.
