The Hummus Lady

“Super Mom” and “Momtrepeneur” are words people have used to describe Concordia International School parent and small business owner, Jen Iannuzzi.

The irony of it is that she prides herself in being a stay-at-home mom. Because her husband travels for work, it’s a priority to be at home with her two sons. After moving to Shanghai in 2011, she easily transitioned her family from their previous life into their new one by being there to support her husband in his new job and for her sons as they adjusted to a new school. She herself also made an easy transition by jumping back into volunteering both at her sons’ school as well as in the community.

One of Jen’s passions is cooking, so she takes pride in making dinner for her family most nights. She finds cooking to be very therapeutic and loves to try new recipes. One of her family’s favorite is Middle Eastern cuisine, not so readily available here in Shanghai. While learning all of her favorite Middle Eastern recipes, she morphed herself into The Hummus Lady. “I originally didn’t intend to sell it,” Iannuzzi says. “I was looking for a consistent way of getting hummus for myself, and it just snowballed from there. My favorite is when I run into someone who knows me as Nico and Anthony’s mom, and later realize that I am the Hummus Lady.”
