Young musicians busy in SCIS Select String program

The High School Select String Program is an extracurricular program for orchestra students who want more and higher level playing opportunities at SCIS.

It is divided into three distinct programs — the Middle School Select Quartet, the High School Select Quartet and the High School Select Ensemble. These students meet before school to practice chamber music pieces for performance.

The High School Select Quartet has already performed for several events both on and off campus. They performed for the National Honor Society induction ceremony during a High School assembly. They also played for the Winter Holiday Market, helping patrons get in the holiday spirit as they entered the Fine Arts building.

The High School Select Quartet performed for the SCIS-hosted event for Relocation Agents and human resources directors, providing entertainment to the delight of the guests mingling at Glo London.

All three groups combined to perform for the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony, playing traditional holiday carols to mark the festival occasion for the guests and employees of the hotel.

Their tunes (and their Santa hats) brought delight to all.
