China's 'Spiderman' Climbs Atop 77m High Roller Coaster
Zhang Xixin, known as “Brother Climbing” over Internet, has more than 20,000 followers on Sina Weibo. On Sunday, he accomplished his latest climbing challenge on in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province.
Zhang climbed with bare hands atop a roller coaster in a theme park that stands 77 meters from the ground. The entire climbing and descending took him about one hour.
The steep and circuitous roller coaster made his climb a thrilling experience to watch.
Zhang, 26, is enthusiastic about extreme sports. He hit fame over Internet after a set of his risky climbing photos on mountain and bridge went viral.
In 2011, Zhang climbed 37-story China Central Television (CCTV) headquarters tower, nicknamed “big trousers” by locals in Beijing. Police detained him as a result for seven days for public order violations, media reported.
He also climbed the Ferris Wheel in Singapore, according to media reports.
Netizens were split in their opinions on Zhang.
One netizen named Feisekeqing wrote:
I'm afraid of height. I can never do what Zhang did. That's awesome!
Some were disparaging. Xigongbenshuai said:
This is just claptrap. What's the point of doing this? He didn't even care about his own life!
