Artist Turns Blackened Graffiti Into New Art Work
The works of a graffiti artist was covered with black paints in Changchun, capital of northeast China’s Jilin Province.
The city authorities blacked out “sleeping woman” and “power” painted by artist Liang Ming on a wall at the crossroads of Huxi Road and Tailai Street, as they thought the back of a half naked woman was indecent and spoiled the cityscape.
Liang was not pleased about it and made use of the black wall to create another graffiti featuring a sanitation worker. Liang said he treated his graffiti as art and would not paint vulgar things in the public.
He said he would restore the wall to its original color later and called on the public to care for their surroundings.
Authorities from the city’s sanitation bureau said no units or individuals were allowed to paste or paint on structures facing the streets, as it may distract drivers and affect traffic.
