Boy, 11, Falls to Death While Trying to Enter His Apartment From the Roof
A 11-year-old boy fell to his death from the fourth floor of his apartment while trying to help his grandparents get the keys of their locked home.
The elderly couple forgot the keys at home and found themselves locked out of their home in Dazhou City, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, on September 19.
They waited for their grandson to come back from school to help them get into the house.
They took the boy on the roof of the building on the fifth floor, tied a rope around him and asked him to climb down to the window of their home.
However, the rope snapped and the boy fell on the ground. He died on the spot.
A nearby resident surnamed Zhang said the boy was in the fifth grade at school. His parents had divorced earlier but are back together again. The boy lived with his grandparents.
A netizen commented, "The grandparents will never be able to forgive themselves. They've paid a terrible price for their stupidity."
