Spring Beauty Pass Along High Speed Track Closed
Magnificent shots of a high-speed train traveling through seas of flowers at the Juyongguan Pass tunnel, one of the three greatest passes of the Great Wall, drew tons of attention last spring on China’s social media.
How splendid it is!
Juyongguan Pass is located along an 18-kilometer-long valley named "Guangou" inside Changping County approximately 50km away from Beijing.
All over the mountains, apricot and peach flowers are in full bloom around the Qingming Festival each year.
However, when quite a few shutterbugs rushed to the scene last Monday, they came back empty-handed.
It was because the popular sightseeing spot has been closed since photography enthusiasts caused trouble to the normal operation of high-speed trains passing by, according to the local village committee.
More and more people have flocked to the spot to take pictures since the photos of the floral majesty went viral online last year.
Running trains were forced to stop for safety concerns as tourists went too close to the track .
Some even smoked on the mountain, triggering fears of causing a forest fire.
More than 1,000 tourists swarmed to the scene on Sunday alone, the situation going beyond control of forest rangers.
Now the mountain road will be closed around the Qingming Festival to prevent any mishap.
It is not clear when it will open again.
What a pity!
