Jinan Zoo Animals Beat the Heat
This summer, endangered animals at the Jinan Zoo will be free from the summer heat thanks to a series of all-embracing cooling efforts by the zoo, Qilu Evening News reported.
The pandas, long established as a national treasure, have their realm well-equipped with a shadow net, pond and air-conditioner. Ice cubes are also placed in the room to help cool them down.
Chimpanzees can take a sip of gourmet sweet mung bean soup for dessert.
Francois's Leaf Monkeys treat themselves to some watermelon. The monkeys can then take the peel from the melon to make boats to play with.
A serving of fruit shelters Ring-tailed Lemurs from heating weather.
Apart from that, the zoo also reduced time for outdoor activities, which is a prerequisite for effective cooling efforts. The animals are ensured 2 hours outdoors, from 8a.m. to 10p.m.
