College Student Presents 999 Grapefruits To A Girl To Show Affection

The boy met the girl, who is senior to him, through campus activities a year ago. He bought 999 grapefruits — the girl’s favorite fruit — and created a “heart” at the beginning of the new semester.
The word “grapefruit” sounds like “you” in Chinese. And he made a poster that read: “you are in my life.”
He asked the girl to be his girlfriend, which she declined but said she would always treat him as her best friend. People took the grapefruits away, minutes after she said no to him — and with the permission of the girl.
