You may have seen some films in which newly wed couples exchange their wedding gowns for the big day. But can you imagine the same in real life?

It happened in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, on December 10, when a groom turned up at his wedding ceremony, wearing a long white dress while the bride wore a traditional black suit. The guests, as expected, were in total shock!

The groom, Wu Shuai, said the bride, Ou Qian, had proposed the idea, which he had refused to accept at first. Wu said when they first met at a college friend’s wedding ceremony in 2011, Ou was a thin girl weighing only 40kg while her height was 172cm. But now she thought she was so fat that she felt she would not look good in a bridal gown.

Wu finally relented and agreed to the idea. “Sometimes you have to put yourself in her shoes. It’s a good attitude in marriage.”

Pu Huan, head of the wedding company, also revealed that the bride's father had passed away so nobody would hold the bride’s hand and walk her down the wedding hall. To make up for that, the groom agreed to wear the wedding dress for his bride.
