Woman Says She 'Accidentally' Rode over Kid after Video Angers Netizens
Local police immediately launched an investigation into the case and caught the woman in the footage in the afternoon on January 3.
According to their preliminary investigation, the woman, 29, surnamed Chen, lived with the kid's grandfather, 50, surnamed Ye, in 2014. She was left to take care of the kid, who was originally reported to be a boy but was later confirmed to be a girl, together with her own daughter and son, while the kid's father and grandfather were out working in other city.
Chen told police she called the kid to go home for lunch with her but the child was reluctant to go. For that, her daughter got off from the motorcycle to drag the kid who was crying on the ground. Chen said she rode toward the girl only to scare her but “accidentally” rode over her when her two-year-old son on the front seat began to cry.
According to media reports, the toddler suffered internal bleeding in her legs and is now being cared for by her father, who is divorced from the girl's mother.
Police are continuing their investigations.
