At Around 70, Couple Embark On Self-Driving Trip Across China
What kind of life do you choose to live after retirement?
A Quzhou (east China’s Zhejiang Province) couple, in their sixties and seventies, have their answers — going on a self-driving tour across China.
75-year-old Luo Daoru and his wife, 68-year-old Jiang Meiya have traveled 31 provinces, municipalities and districts across China over past three years. They also penned down nearly 350,000 characters about their hearty adventures.
They have already become Internet sensation across Quzhou.
They kept all the admission tickets, parking permits and road toll invoices along their trip as their travel memories.
Luo said he loved reading books about history and geography since he was a child.
Luo also got to see many places during his 40 year long career. He had been to Hainan in the south, Liaoning in the northeast, Zhoushan Islands in the east and some central provinces during his career life.
However, he always wanted to visit China's West. After retirement, he fulfilled his dream of traveling to Xinjiang with his wife.
“The outside world is fabulous and we’d like to visit more and more places as long as our health conditions allow,” says Jiang.
Luo is preparing his second book on Tibet self-driving trip.
