China’s Female Version of Bear Grylls
A female adventurer and extreme sports enthusiast known as Xiao Yun Dou, or nicknamed Dou Dou, has become the latest Internet sensation.
Dou Dou who has been to over 70 countries is devoting herself to documentary making in hope to raise the awareness of environment and wildlife protection among the general public. She is widely known by her followers as the female version of Bear Grylls, the famous globetrotter and presenter for the TV show "Running Wild with Bear Grylls."
Dou Dou began to learn dancing at six year old and became a commercial model at 16. She fell in love with outdoor sports when she was in high school and started traveling around the world in college. She is also a fitness instructor and professional yoga coach recognized by the American Council on Exercise.
Dou Dou is good at a number of adventurous sports including rock and ice climbing, free diving, skiing, skateboarding, surfing, skydiving, equestrianism, sailing and motorcycling.
Photography is one of her favorites. Dou Dou traveled to South Africa to shoot sardines under the sea in cooperation with CCTV-9. She once waited for 10 days in the wild under 40-50 degrees Celsius below zero to just shoot several hunting scenes of polar bears. She ate raw meat over the ice with huntsmen.
