Couple Rescues Drowning Teenager
A couple in Ankang City of Shaanxi Province got widely praised as “beautiful-minded people" on social media after they rescued a drowning teenager on Sunday.
The 16-year-old teen boy fell into a river when kayaking in the waters of Jihe Town. A man named Yu Jie heard the cry for help from the teenager’s friends and immediately jumped into the river, taking the boy onto the bank.
The boy lost his breath when rescued to the bank.
Yu’s wife, Li Jingjing, who is a nurse in neonatology, knelt on the ground and tried every means to rescue him, including artificial respiration and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. She kept doing the first aid for over 30 minutes until the ambulance arrived.
Because of the long time spent kneeling on the ground, Li even had her knees scraped.
The teenager’s still in coma at the moment. His uncle appreciated the couple’s great effort and said they would like to show gratitude to them in person after the boy turned better.
