Creative college inventive homework amazes netizens
An innovative school of learning has given its students artistic license to be more creative this summer.
Instead of setting dull, boring or menial tasks for homework, a college in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, has told its scholars to be inventive when undertaking assignments given to them.
The School of Education at Chengdu College of Arts and Sciences has arranged several different tasks for students in the grading system. The college’s freshmen have been tasked with “going to a concert” of a favorite idol. The sophomore students have been given an art project where they can "take a portrait series” in any style of choice, while juniors can "learn flower arranging or explore teaism".
Tasks for the sophomores were seen as the most impressive, judging from comments on social media. Students have been asked to finish at least four tasks from nine items on their list. This included showing affection for a person you admire, watching a film about childhood education or psychology, travelling to a place you've always longed to go, experimenting with fashion or being creative with makeup.
After the list was shared on Weibo, it received more than 27,500 likes. Most netizens applauded the college teachers for their creativity. One social media user, joked: "Is it too late for me to transfer to this school now?"
A student surnamed Song, who majors in preschool education, said: “This is the first time we have received homework as interesting. And this time I genuinely want to take the initiative to finish it."
