Left-behind Children In Guizhou Are Centerpiece In Ding's Lens
The Xiamen-based fashion photographer Ding Guoliang, known by his Internet name Xiaoyejiexi, went to Xingren County of southwest China’s Guizhou Province in May to record childhood memories of left-behind children.
The 31-year-old shot to overnight fame on China’s social media after he shot a set of stunning fashion photos of his 85-year-old grandfather.
Ding went to Guizhou with his team, bringing stationery and clothes as gifts for the children from Songwa Elementary School in Baika Village, Baling Town.
After being dressed up and having their hair trimmed, the students looked as neat and stylish as their city counterparts.
Ding, who set up a photography studio after he graduated from college, said he hoped these photos could encourage more people to pay attention to this special group of children whose parents are working in cities and cannot take care of them.
