Photo of Policeman 'Eating on Street' Causes Stir Online
A photograph of a policeman eating while on duty at a lantern fair in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province, has sparked debate among Chinese netizens.
The photo that was captured by a local netizen on February 10 and posted on Wechat, immediately went viral. Many netizens guessed that the policeman was eating snacks stealthily.
According to Qianjiang Evening News, the policeman’s name was Cheng Wei. He went to the fair after working without a break in daytime, when he handled a dangerous driving case. Cheng, who was battling cold, had a sore throat. He gulped down the electuaries instead of dissolving them in water.
After learning the facts, netizens hit out at the person who took the photo, and thanked Cheng for his hard work. "It doesn't matter whether he was taking medicine or not. Police officers are not robots, they are human beings!" one netizen commented.
"Misunderstanding is not a big deal. It's good for residents to supervise our work," Cheng said.
