Portrait Master: Teenager鈥檚 Ballpen Oldies Startles Web
Several real life-like ballpoint pen portrait paintings by a 16-year-old senior high school student have become an Internet sensation recently.
The boy named Ling Yundeng hails from Zhenlong Middle School in Xinyi City of south China’s Guangdong Province.
Ling has achieved this feat without any professional training before he went to senior high school. These true-to-life portraits are all self-taught paintings. The subjects of his paintings are mainly old people.
It takes him up to more than 100 hours to complete a single piece of painting. Even the less complicated ones take at least 30-40 hours.
Ling said he began painting with pencil since he was in elementary school. He started to draw with ballpoint pen from 2014 end.
Ling’s first ballpoint pen painting took him 95 hours to finish. It is one of Ling's favorites.
Ling draws celebrities such as pop stars Wu Yifan and Angelababy as well.
Apart from portrait paintings, Ling’s works also includes animals and still life.
