Baby Dolls In School Garden Inspire Hope & Fear
An array of baby dolls appeared at a university garden in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, becoming a center of attraction for many while terrifying some others, Wuhan Evening News reported on April 6.

Many netizens who viewed the photos online expressed shock.
I wasn't born yesterday, but you scared me to death.

According to the report, the dolls were "planted" by a senior student surnamed Zhang majoring in sculpture at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts.

Dolls were her public art course assignment on the theme: "Breaking through the soil, flourishing and prosperous."

Zhang "planted" a total of nine dolls arranged in a sequence like a doll climbing out of the garden.

Zhang said:
I want to show the freshmen in the building near the garden that the pursuit of art is like a newborn baby filled with hope.

Most of the students thought the artwork was acceptable. A student surnamed Liu said, "We all learn art so we know it's definitely not a prank."

However, some female students were fearful and wouldn't dare go near the garden at night.

Zhang's teacher told the newspaper that Zhang's presentation is a success since it has drawn so much attention.
