Dine And Dash? Gang Put Cockroach Into Hotpot!

Everyone loves hotpot.

And Haidilao, known for its good service and food, is one of the most popular hotpot chains across China.

But recently, a group of people attempted to play the dine-and-dash trick at one of Haidilao's outlets in Shanghai, by putting a COCKROACH into the hotpot!

On January 5, the group went to a Haidilao outlet on Wuzhong Road in Shanghai, according to Shanghai Television.

After they finished eating, they found their bill to be almost 2,000 yuan.

One of them in black tore the bill and asked a waiter to come over.

In the meantime, as the surveillance footage showed, another man took something from inside a seat and threw it into the pot.

And it turned out be a cockroach!

Then they complained to the waiter about the cockroach in their pot as an excuse to avoid the bill.

Haidilao staff said this group of people came often and tried to skip bills with different excuses every time.

Staff from a karaoke club near the hotpot outlet also shared similar experiences. Some staff also got beaten and scolded, the report said.

Nine suspects involved have been held by police and the case is still under investigation.
