DPRK reports Roh Moo-hyun's death

THE official news agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) today briefly reported the death of former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun.

In a brief news story, the official Korean Central News Agency said Roh died yesterday morning, quoting South Korean and foreign news reports as saying that his death was related to psychological pressure resulting from prosecutors' corruption investigation.

The Korean Central News Agency didn't directly say that Roh committed suicide.

Roh, who served as South Korean president between 2003 and 2008, visited Pyongyang in October 2007 and signed a joint declaration with Kim Jong Il, the top leader of the DPRK, on the development of inter-Korean peace and posterity.

Roh, 63, died of external head injury after falling down a mountain in his hometown in southern South Korea yesterday morning.

The former president had been under investigation by the South Korean prosecution on a bribery scandal involving his family members.
