Death Toll 9,099
JAPAN'S police agency says the quake and tsunami death toll is now 9,099 with 13,786 people still missing. It estimates that the final toll will exceed 18,000 deaths.
Police in one of the hardest-hit prefectures, Miyagi, estimated that deaths will top 15,000 in that region alone. Confirmed deaths in other areas already hit 3,400.
