BYD boost to electric cars

BYD Company Ltd, backed by billionaire Warren Buffett, recently announced it would set up a research and development center in Hong Kong as part of its efforts to promote electric cars.
The producer of the E6 electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid F3DM said it would further promote cooperation with research institutes in Hong Kong. Three spare parts that were developed by the R&D center in Hong Kong would be tested on its electric vehicle and the car maker is also in discussion with the local government to launch a trial operation of its electric cars.
