Love, lavender and laughs at Chongming festival

YOU should not miss the chance to spend a romantic day and evening with a sea of lavender and more than 30 kinds of herbs and flowers this National Day holiday.

The Lavender and Egret Love Park on Chongming Island promises you an amazing date during the Life and Culture Festival through the end of October.

Covering 800 mu (53 hectares), the park has many themed landscapes like the Love Valley, Dreaming Land, Wish Fairy and Yuelao (God of Love) Bridge. It is filled with 680 mu of lavender and herbs such as sweet basil and rosemary.

There are plenty of activities, including a family day, food carnival, bonfire party, camping, ecological sports, live music and a vote on online photos of couples.

You can make your own lavender soap and essential oil, or paint fans and kites. For sports fans, there is carting, a CS laser contest, fishing and arrow shooting.

Feeding the lama is a favorite with the kids. At night, the bonfire party and barbecue are great fun, with a laser show and DJs. You are welcome to camp after the party or choose from nearby B&B houses or caravans.
