AKS Shanghai Cup: A competition for winners

OVER the weekend of March 18 and 19, Active Kidz Shanghai (AKS) hosted over 50 soccer teams at their annual soccer tournament, the AKS Shanghai Cup.
The gates opened and young soccer players from all over Asia flooded in, all vying to be crowned champions of the 2017 AKS Shanghai Cup. Children from the ages of 8 to 16 competed at Shanghai’s most state-of-the-art soccer facility, the T98 Oasis Soccer Center.
Sponsoring the AKS Shanghai Cup 2017 as the team academy sponsor was FC Venezia of the Italia 3rd Division. Former Series A professional footballer Paolo Poggi greeted and encouraged players on their efforts throughout the weekend.
Element Fresh and St James Place presented awards to all the players as the tournament’s entitled sponsors, and other community staples like Community Center Shanghai and Columbia Clinic made sure attendees had plenty to do while the players competed in their matches.
As for the matches on the field, teams were competing for glory in their respective age categories. Spectators had the chance to see the different strategies used amongst each academy.

U8 champions: AIFA

U8 3rd place: Jincai Leitinbao
Plate division winner: AKSIL Kryptonites U8
U10 champions: AKSIL Lions U9
U10 2nd place: AIFA
U10 3rd place: AKSIL Pudong U10
Plate division winner: Aaron Football Academy
U12 champions: AKSIL Pudong U12
U2 2nd place: Sports Beijing U12 Piranhas
U12 3rd place: Beijing Jingying
Plate division winner: AKSIL Puxi U11
U14 champions: AKSIL Puxi U14
U14 2nd place: YKFC
U14 3rd place: Sports Beijing U14 Selecao
U16 champions: Sports Beijing U16 Strikers
U16 2nd place: Shanghai Reunited
Girls category: champions: AKSIL Girls
Girls category: 2nd place: Hattricks FC
Girls category: 3rd place: Sunday League
