SCIS Hongqiao student’s film wins multiple awards

The Shanghai, I Love You student film collective and competition is a program to inspire and encourage young filmmaking in Shanghai. Students participated by submitting scripts around the theme of love interpreted to a setting in Shanghai.
SCIS Hongqiao student, Kyra Power, wrote a script “Xiaomei” which was selected. Power assembled a filmmaking team with SCIS Hongqiao IB film students: Hamish Bowery-Ireland, Exilia Han, Victor Feng and Nick Arbenz under the guidance of SCIS Hongqiao film teacher and coordinator Joshua Sternlicht. Together working collaboratively over the next few months they developed script, cast actors, location scouted, rehearsed, shot and edited their film mentored by professionals and received complimentary production and post-production services from sponsors.
After films were complete, industry professionals formed a special jury team to review and judge films. On September 17, Cities of Love producers hosted the Shanghai, I Love You student film awards gala broadcast at Sennheiser arena in front of a packed audience. SCIS Hongqiao students’ film “Xiaomei” swept awards winning in categories of Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Production Design and Best Acting!
Cities of Love recently launched SY 15/16 Shanghai, I Love You student film competition with script submission deadline of November 8. November 21 will be next film symposium announcing selected scripts and building crew day offering all students a chance to work on a film. Please help spread the word to source and empower young talent and revive the film industry in Shanghai. Cities of Love will host special screenings and Shanghai, I Love You films of SY14/15 will soon be online.
