THE 2014 PUMA Jinqiao 8K successfully took place yesterday with more than 6,000 runners in attendance.

With outstanding participation figures throughout its 13-year history, the race has established itself as Shanghai’s most popular community running event uniting both locals and expats through the joy of running.

The PUMA Jinqiao 8K aims to form an outdoor fitness platform for corporate employees and community residences to promote running culture and advocate an active healthy lifestyle.

The PUMA Jinqiao 8K includes the PUMA 8K and the Coca-Cola Happiness Run. As the title sponsor for the 8K race, the PUMA brand helped attract a large number of foreign and local runners to the event which increased the intensity of the competition from previous years.

As a global leader in the beverage industry, Coca-Cola has been actively advocating “A balanced diet, happiness movement”. The Coca-Cola Happiness Run attracted many families and companies to participate, whilst a fancy dress element was an addition made to promote fun and happiness. Coca-Cola provided picture taking, drawing and various other recreational activities on site.

In addition, the PUMA Jinqiao 8k provided a number of fun and interactive games, such as lucky draws, exciting activities and band performances.

PUMA provided great prizes for top 10 finishers of the PUMA 8K, and every contestant also received a commemorative medal.

In order to raise awareness of the benefits of running and encourage people to love running, race organizer S2M Group worked with the famous charity group, Hands On Shanghai and made a donation to support the Young Runner Camp program which supports the healthy growth of children of migrant workers.

“PUMA, as the new title sponsor for 2014 Jinqiao 8K,” said PUMA China Region GM, Philippe Bocquillon “is committed to growing the running community by introducing state-of-the-art technologies and diverse product offerings to help runners run faster and achieve better performances. Currently, PUMA has four silos of running shoes that can meet the needs of runners, including Neutral, Adaptive, Modern Running, and Stability. PUMA aims to use the race to further express their support for Shanghai’s running community.”

As a global leader in the beverage industry, Coca-Cola said: “Coca-Cola is committed to the promotion of healthy eating in the community and active exercise knowledge to support the State Planning Commission and the State Sports General Administration. Coca-Cola’s key message is ‘happy to move, one hour a day’ which hopes to inspire communities to adopt a healthy lifestyle and spread ‘happy energy’ throughout China.”

PUMA Jinqiao 8K race director Miss Zhang said: “The PUMA Jinqiao 8K has become one of China’s leading sports brand community events, a growing number of white-collar workers in Shanghai and expatriates actively and enthusiastically have entered the competition. Participation connotes feelings of happiness and a healthy lifestyle.”
