Tang Yan wins payout over surgery ads
A COURT has ordered a hospital to pay Shanghai actress Tang Yan, one of the country’s highest paid performers, 16,000 yuan (US$2,330) for illegally using her image to advertise cosmetic surgery.
Putuo District People’s Court announced the ruling against Hongkang Hospital yesterday.
In early 2015, the hospital started using Tang’s images on its website to promote its plastic surgery, the court said.
The court verdict earlier this year ordered the hospital to remove her images and the hospital apologized.
No details of the images used were given by the court.
In 2012, a court ruled against the same hospital over the use of images of actresses Liu Yan, Zhang Jiani and Xiong Naijin without permission. Details of that settlement have not been revealed.
Tang Yan was nominated for the White Magnolia award for Best Actress in 2007 for her debut film “Farewell for Love.”
