Rain to cool down north China
CHINA'S northern areas will see lower temperatures and scattered showers in the next several days, after a heat wave swept across the regions Sunday, the national observatory said Monday.
From Monday to Wednesday, rain will hit parts of Beijing, Tianjin, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and provinces of Hebei and Shandong, the National Meteorological Center said in a statement.
A cold front is expected to reduce the areas affected by the heat wave, which sent temperatures to record highs Sunday, the center said.
The center issued an alert for heat wave Sunday, when parts of northern and central China saw temperatures of 35-38 degrees Celsius and the highest temperatures in 32 observation points reached their historical highs for May.
Although the heat's intensity will drop, some parts of Shandong, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu provinces will still see high temperatures of 35-37 degrees Monday.
